The Tau Lekoa Gold Mine management has released the names of the four deceased miners following a rock fall on Friday.
They are Rock Drillers – Xolani Meva from Elliotdale, Lungile Nyawose from Lusikisiki, Karabo Mabuthile from Fochville and a team leader Katleho Nthibane from Bloemfontein.
Their bodies were recovered on Saturday night, after prolonged efforts by the rescue teams to reach them.
The victims were trapped by a rock fall about 1350 metres below surface at Orkney near Klerksdorp.
The fifth mine worker, who was rescued on Friday, is in a stable condition in hospital.
The National Union of Mine Workers (NUM) says an independent forensic investigation should be conducted at the Tau Lekoa Gold Mine.
