Plant - Control Centre Monitoring Officer

Our client based in Cape Town is looking for a Control Monitoring Centre Officer who will be responsible for the Monitoring of PV Power Plants at the Control and Monitoring Centre in Cape Town, assist with the development, implementation and refinement of the Control and Monitoring Centre (CMC) systems and processes. CMC will assist with developing commercial operational reporting of the global Education and Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 with relevant qualification in office administration
3 years’ in LV & HV systems
Qualified Electrician (Trade Test)
Electrical Technician (NTD) or higher
Control Centre implementation and processes knowledge
Management development background
Knowledge of Power Electrical (LV & HV) systems and support services
Experience with reading and understanding technical diagrams and drawings
Experience in commercial quantification and analysis
Work experience in the PV power generation and/or distribution environment
Work experience in the Renewable Energy environment
Exposure to SCADA and IT back-office systems
Experience with pertinent plant electrical equipment like Transformers, Switchgear, Inverters, SCADA and network communication
CMMS/ERP system background
Control and/or Monitoring Centre experience

Monitor and coordinate Plants under his control

Monitoring of PV Plants (shift work)
Ensure timely response to operational events and alarms
First line remote support
Scheduled reporting
Ensure Plant Supervisors are informed in detail of occurrences on their plant
Assist Senior Control Officer with managing CMC shifts and schedules
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the Plant Safety Regulations.
Liaise with Senior Control Officer and ensure required communication and notices are done correctly and on time
Assist with impact analysis of significant events on the Plant(s)
Assist with and coordinate emergency situations that pose a risk to the personnel and the Plant(s)
Advise where needed on technical related issues with regards to CMC and Plant operations
Assist the Plant Safety Engineer in his responsibilities and duties
Assist with development, implementation and maintaining of CMC processes and procedures
Assist with development and implementation of CMMS system and subsequent outcomes
Plan and confirm execution of maintenance schedules

Data acquisition, analysis and reporting

Monitor and keep record of all work on plant and plant performance
Report on plant performance and plant activities
Assist with general record keeping and reporting
Align plant activities to CMMS system
Ensure SCADA is operational
Extract and compile data as required by other departments

Planning and scheduling

Plan and schedule all Preventive Maintenance work on the plants
Assist with and coordinate planning and scheduling of all work on the Plant(s) together with the Plant Supervisors
