“Star Wars” holds a special place in the entertainment world and in view of the upcoming conclusion of the 42-year, nine-episode saga, Dolby Laboratories and Walt Disney Studios are presenting an interactive exhibit celebrating the entire Skywalker saga.
The exhibit is spread across two floors, 11 rooms and 1 850 square meters.
Memorabilia like photos of “Princess Leah,” movie posters and Light Sabers are on display for interactive use.
The exhibit is being organized ahead of the theatrical release of the ninth episode, “Star Wars’ Rise of Skywalker,” later this month.
“This is an amazing opportunity for ‘Star Wars’ fans, people that are waiting for the ‘Rise of Skywalker,’ to get a little bit of a Star Wars fix,” Stuart Bowling, the director of content and creative relations for Dolby Laboratories, told Reuters. “It allows the public to be able to come in and experience Dolby’s, audio and imaging technologies wrapped around 11 immersive exhibits.”
Central to the exhibit is a 360 degree immersive display featuring the movie trailer.
“Star Wars” famously takes place in “a long time ago,” but the most recent episodes feature the most up-to-date technology which the exhibit prominently features.
“We’re using cutting edge, high dynamic range imaging firm Dolby vision projectors inside Dolby cinemas,” Bowling told Reuters. “Couple that with Adobe Atmos sound system and you have the best picture and the best sound quality available that will allow ‘Star Wars’ fans to be completely immersed in the universe that filmmaker George Lucas created and now J.J. Abrams is concluding.”
“Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker” officially opens to the public in theaters on Friday, December 20.
