Ten villages in Fort Beaufort and Alice in the Raymond Mhlaba Municipality of the Eastern Cape are counting their losses after a tornado hit the area on Friday night.
The villages stretch from Msobomvu, Bergaplaas, Bienfield and Khayalethu in Alice to Magaleni and Mabheleni in Fort Beaufort.
Amathole disaster officials are assessing the damage.
Spokesperson Noni Madikizela-Vuso says so far it has been established that eight families were left homeless and that the number of affected families might increase.
