Marketing Manager

Our client in the Travel industry, based in Bruma, Jhb - requires a Marketing Manager to join their dynamic team.
The purpose of the position is to develop, execute and manage a marketing strategy for the brands which supports the revenue growth and brand positioning objectives of the organisation; and manage and direct all related activities.

Develop, implement and manage a firm marketing strategy to ensure market relevance, driving effective implementation to realise marketing objectives.
Effective management of the marketing, advertising and promotional activities documented in the strategy.
Determine, manage and control the marketing budget as well as deliver the required outputs within the agreed budget.
Oversee and manage sponsorships and associated costs.
Oversee the coordination, management and implementation of the brands marketing campaigns and ad-hoc marketing rollout plans.
Management of deliverables with media and advertising agencies, as well as other key marketing suppliers.
Control and manage the brands and CI elements.
Coordination and management of the brands social media and website presence.
Report on competitor analysis and make recommendations to Executives.
Conduct research and gather data to provide input to operational reporting and decision-making processes, identify new opportunities/technologies which could yield better results.
Ensure that marketing and sales support material, company profiles, media announcements and standard documentation are legally sound and compliant, meets business needs and required standards.
Keep up to date with marketing trends and industry innovations.
Maintain and coordinate a communication network of internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance, requirements are adhered to and applicable support to associated communication efforts.
Build and foster relationships with key suppliers, internal customers and partners.
Oversee and manage all marketing administration.

Minimum Experience:

5-8 years relevant experience in a similar environment, of which at least 2-3 years mid-senior level managerial experience within the marketing context. Please note that experience of both agency and corporate contexts will be a benefit; agency-only exposure is not what we are looking for.
Experience must include all aspects of developing, implementing and managing marketing strategies.
Broad experience in relevant marketing disciplines required (PR, sponsorship, ATL, BTL, TTL, online, social media, campaign planning and management, media planning, agency management).
Prior experience of managing multiple brands - essential.
Prior experience of interacting with a global brand and franchisor/head office – an advantage.
Strong background in terms of web/online/search marketing as well as brand management within the context of social media.
Knowledge and technical understanding of digital sales and marketing channels, technologies, data management principles and integration. Deep and technical understanding – an advantage but not essential; prior exposure – essential.


Experience must have been with brands that can be likened to ours in terms of positioning strategy and the execution and management thereof, and the type of customer/ consumer the brand communication intends to reach.
Candidates should be screened to determine whether they are comfortable with a role that includes both a strategic and operational marketing contribution. This isn’t a strategy-only role – it requires a strategic thinker but someone very comfortable to roll up their sleeves daily to deal with operational marketing responsibilities.

Minimum Qualification:

Bachelor`s Degrees and/or Advanced Diplomas in Marketing with NQF 7+

Minimum Requirements:

Unendorsed valid South African driver’s license and own vehicle.
Computer literate, MS Office (Expert level needed on PowerPoint, Word and Excel).


Excellent verbal and written communication skills; a strong effective communicator.
Marketing strategy development and implementation.
Capable of research and analysis, using these and other methods to develop a deep understanding of the end user/consumer; and to use these insights to grow demand for our products.
Application of social media for marketing purposes.
Expertise and skills with the tools of the trade in marketing including PR, written communication, website development and maintenance, market research, agency processes and management of deliverables, brand management etc.
Fully versed in internet and social media strategy with a demonstrated track record.
Ability to interact, communicate and present ideas at boardroom level.
Time & priority management which includes the ability to consistently work within a deadline and well under pressure, working quickly and efficiently with a great deal of autonomy.

Planning and Organising skills and the ability to remain organised and focused in a pressurized environment.
